A British princess for the Crown Prince

February 3, 1901

The visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II to England to attend his grandmother's funeral may also result in a marriage between his eldest son, Crown Prince Wilhelm, and Princess Margaret of Connaught, reports the Chicago Daily Tribune.
Princess Margaret, 19, is five months older than the Crown Prince.  She is seen as one of "the prettiest and most clever" of King Edward's relations.  She is the eldest of three children of the Duke of and Duchess of Connaught.  The Duke is a younger brother of the new king, and the duchess is a Prussian princess by birth.
Although Margaret is closer in age to the Crown Prince, she and the Kaiser are first cousins as both are grandchildren of the late Queen.
